Kidney Corner:
Kidney Community Scores Big Win
Medicare announced this week that it will not go through with its proposed cuts to immunosuppressive drug coverage. The Associated Press credits the National Kidney Foundation's push back as a reason for the decision. Just last week, 65 NKF volunteers from across the country advocated on Capitol Hill as part of the first Kidney Patient Summit. Five other non-profits joined forces with NKF to create a strong presence, voicing the concerns of the kidney community. Read more at Kidney.org.

Project Post 1
This quarter we celebrate the relocation and opening of Yoko's Dance Academy. This project was bittersweet as Yoko Young, the founder, passed away before completion of the project. However, Yoko's hard work and dedication is being carried on through the Ellis Family.
Project Post 2
This quarter we celebrate the completion of a fun project, for a terrific group of people. We salute the accomplishment of completing Petits Pains. This project was essentially a gut and install of a working bakery in a crummy old warehouse in Burlingame (albeit a terrific location). Mehdi Boudiab and Alain Bourgade are the founders of Petits Pains. We encourage you to stop by their retail location at 1730 Gilbreth Road in Burlingame and choose from a selection of their amazing breads and pastries.
They are absolutely delicious!!!

In the Spotlight - Tiffany Stevenson
We'd like to share with you an interview with our new employee, Tiffany Stevenson......
I was born in Chicago, but grew up in Oakland, CA. I have been working in the Administration field since, oh yeah right, like I will actually give the years. Let's just say a while now (insert smiley). My most brilliant idea, go to school while working full time at a ... Haha..
In the end, I graduated from Heald Business College with two AAS's one in Business Administration with emphasis in Accounting and the other in Criminal Justice. Finally, they "kicked" me out with my AA in Business Administration with emphasis in Accounting... Whoo Hoo! Just when I thought I couldn't come up with anything better to do, I decided to continue my education at CalState Eastbay where I'm working on obtaining a BA in Business Administration with emphasis in Accounting. Whew!!! Just in case anyone cares (insert smiley or laugh) I have a black belt in Kajukenbo, love, love reading, "die hard" movie buff (sorry no sad movies - action/blow them up movies need only apply - hmmm does that say something... Reading the World: Population "Boom" Baby Boomers Need a Place to Retire.
The population of people older than 65 in the United States is expected to double from about 40 million in 2010 to more than 81 million in 2050, according to the Pew Research Center. The nation will go from having one in eight people older than 65 to one in five. The fastest growing segment is people over 85, and it's becoming more common to live to 100, which compounds the demand: More people need housing for longer retirements. Driven by those demographics, many developers can't build retirement facilities fast enough or find enough land in desirable areas.

In Closing:
As we all are aware, our real estate world is changing rapidly and dramatically. Rents are increasing. Builders are turning dirt...........into HUGE new projects. The migration is beginning from San Francisco and moving through to Oakland, the East Bay and Tri Valley.
What a dramatic change!
In this very busy world we live in, I would like to make a recommondation regarding something I learned recently:
Last weekend, I attended a philosophy-based business conference (by the Newfield Network) and was introduced to the practice of Kaizen. The specific book I am reading is "One Small Step Can Change Your Life: The Kaizen Way", by Robert Maurer. It's a whopping $4.99 just about anywhere online. Do yourself, your spouse and your organization a favor. Buy this book and start reading it. It will "change you" and help "manage your time". I'm beginning to read it for the second time.
Thank you.
David
