President's Message

Happy New Year from Doyle Construction!
I can hardly believe another year is almost over.  Is it old age or busyness or kids that makes the years fly by?!

Whatever the reason, we're glad that you've been a part of our latest turn around the sun.  We're thankful every day for our clients, business associates and friends, and that there's a fair amount of overlap between those three categories.

This issue is short and sweet (unlike me; I'm tall and sweet) because we know everybody is busy with year-end preparations and holidays.

Have a safe and happy holiday season and a wonderful 2015!
-- David Doyle

Broker Beat

The annual "Beaconomics" forecast from Beacon Economics is out, and the California forecast has the state's employment and population expanding in 2015 while predicting home prices will remain on an upward trajectory.  For the full report, including commercial real estate market information, see the Beacon website.

Compliments Corner

"It was spotless.   The work was very well done -- on time and the result was great; it looks like nothing ever happened.  Well done and thank you for getting this done for us!"
-- Property manager with leaky roof

What We're Reading

The Innovators"The Innovators" by Walter Isaacson is a fascinating look at the "pioneers, hackers, inventors, and entrepreneurs" who created computers and the internet.  What really struck me about this book is that many of these inventions didn't spring from lonely geniuses working in isolated garages - most of the innovations of the digital age were collaborations, with people bouncing ideas off each other and working in teams.  Whatever industry you're in, it's a great way of thinking: How can your company and its associates work together to solve problems and come up with new ideas?

DCI Service Department Notes:  Winter

Winter is here!  Our Service Department can help with year-end and seasonal tasks.

Winter calls for some special preparation to keep your property in top shape.  We can help with seasonal tasks like roof leaks and preventative maintenance, parking lot maintenance, interior improvements, or anything else that will let you rest easy and get out and enjoy the season.  See our Service Department flyer for a full list of the services we can provide.

Email service@doyleconstruction.com or call 510-687-1771 for details or to arrange service.

In the Neighborhood

I just met the new property manager yesterday for a development within walking distance of our office.  Wow --  700,000 sq. ft. developed, built and fully leased at VERY nice leasing rates, right here in Fremont fairly close to the new Warm Springs BART Station.  It's a major development, including Fremont's “new Downtown.” What’s next?

Building Trust

Many times we get asked "what's your wheelhouse or sweet spot?" when it comes to size of projects.   My response is always, "It doesn't matter what size the job is; what matters to us is the client."  We've performed everything from $200 service calls up to $4 million t.i.'s over the years.  But we certainly WON'T do a $4 million t.i. for a new client; that's just a setup for both parties.  We like to start small, develop trust and then move on to bigger projects, if we both trust each other.   We won't say "yes" if it's not a fit for one reason or another.
